The Coalition Against Surprise Medical Billing hosted a policymaker briefing last week to discuss how the No Surprises Act (NSA) is essential for protecting patients from harmful surprise medical bills and actively works to lower health care costs for Americans and their families.

Panelists discussed how the No Surprises Act was carefully crafted with bipartisan support to end the financial stresses of out-of-network surprise medical bills for patients. Despite the NSA preventing over 9 million surprise bills from reaching patients since January 1, 2022, certain providers are still attempting to challenge the law. With patients and voters concerned about the financial impact of attempts to overturn the law, it is critical that the strong patient protections and cost-saving measures of the No Surprises Act remain in place.
